The Bank of Biological Material (BBM) is a division of the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University. Its primary activity consists of the collecting, processing, storage and distribution of samples for teaching and research in biomedicine, with the goal of contributing to the development of biomedical science and research while clarifying the nature of a wide variety of diseases.

The obtained samples and associated medical data are used in basic and applied research on various types of diseases, primarily cancer, and including cardiovascular, neurodegenerative and rare diseases.

The objective of the BBM is to provide high quality samples and data for research that will contribute to more accurate and early diagnoses, as well as to the development of new and more effective treatments.
